What is renewable maintenance?
What’s the difference between subscription and perpetual?
A perpetual license includes 1 year of maintenance. After that year, you can continue to use the last version that was released during your maintenance period for as long as you like, and you will have the option to renew the maintenance at a discounted price. If you choose to let the maintenance lapse, you can still use the software, but won’t be eligible for any further upgrades. Additionally, if your maintenance has expired and you would like to run a newer version in the future, you would need to purchase the new version outright.
With a subscription license, you must renew yearly in order to continue using the software. You are of course eligible for all updates and upgrades within your year free of charge. If you do not renew your subscription after a year, you would no longer be able to use any of the applications under the license. However, the cost to re-instate a subscription would be the same as the renewal fee. Whereas with the perpetual license, you wouldn’t be eligible for the maintenance renewal fee to re-instate maintenance.
