UltraCompare 2024.1 has just been released. This update is headlined by introducing a dockable window for an SSH/Telnet console. The bulk of this release, however, is taken up by a wide variety of improvements and fixes based on user-submitted reports and requests.

New SSH/Telnet dockable terminal window and account manager
UC 2024.1 introduces a highly requested feature: the SSH/Telnet dockable terminal window, first available on UltraEdit This new addition allows users to seamlessly access SSH servers directly from UltraCompare, enhancing productivity and making workflows smooth.
This uses the latest and standards-compliant SSH features, including the following:

- Elliptic curve algorithms: a public key cryptographic algorithm used for encryption, authentication, and digital signatures.
- External key agents: An option to centralize and simplify public/private key management by loading keys and prompting for required passphrases. Once loaded the keys can be used by any application that supports the key agent protocol.
- Latest encryption standards: uses industry standard OpenSSH tools, included with Microsoft Windows, to support latest encryption standards and timely security and protocol updates.
- User specified custom settings and parameters: provides access to the full set of OpenSSH configuration options, including SSH forwarding.
Quality improvements and bug fixes
In line with our commitment to quality, this release addresses numerous user-reported issues and enhances the overall stability and performance of UltraCompare.
Key improvements include:
- Improved handling of certain patch file cases.
- Enhanced stability when merging lines during file comparisons.
- Resolved edge case issues with SFTP/FTP, folder compare, and file comparisons from UltraEdit.
- Improved line terminator difference detection and line numbering for file compare/merge results.
- Addressed rendering artifacts with non-active panes and mouse wheel scrolling.
- Resolved out-of-context error messages when launching new sessions.
- Added /LOG-FTP-ADVANCED command line switch for verbose FTP logging
- Strings are clipped in themed configuration dialog
